New ways to engage on Along: more customization and features to drive engagement

The team behind Along is always listening to our educator community, actively asking about ways to provide the best experience for teacher and student users. Ultimately, we want to make it easier (and always fun!) to create authentic and ongoing connections using Along— because stronger relationships pave the way for more motivated and engaged learners.

That’s why we’re so excited to share that as the new school year gets underway, users will notice a number of new features that encourage connection.

Check out these updates to Along:

New: A more engaging, exciting student experience

  • Easier navigation: Students can find reflection questions faster with a redesigned student home page
  • Questions organized by classes: Students can now see reflection question by teacher for more ease and meaningful connection

New: Avatar builder for students and teachers!

  • Customize your profile: Create a more personalized experience by making your own avatar icon. Choose from a variety of unique, illustrated features and colorful backgrounds.

New: Find the right questions for your classroom through Search

  • Find the right question for your class: You can now search for specific topics or questions to fit the needs of your students and class.

New: Anonymous mode

  • Review student insights as a group: Teachers can now toggle to anonymous mode to hide student names and individual replies on the Responses page.

Features you may have missed:

  • Content sequences: set up a series of questions for a deeper dive into specific topics
  • Custom questions: Write your own multiple-choice or open-response questions

Now’s the time to create a strong foundation of connection in your classroom. When students feel seen and heard by their teacher right from the start of a school year, they are more primed to learn and engage. It’s powerful how small actions—like asking a simple question—can create a sense of belonging and can transform school culture.

We encourage you to try out Along in any of your classrooms, from advisory to academic settings. Consider how to customize questions and schedule questions in groups to make the most of Along! And… tell us what you think! We love sharing your success stories, hearing from you about ideas for new features, and understanding what you like about the updated experience on the platform. Our team is available at support@along.org.

Happy connecting!
