Looking back at ‘23 – ’24: most asked Along questions and other educator trends

The end of the school year is a time to celebrate! As students move on with their education, school leaders and teachers can reflect on the year’s many triumphs.

In classrooms around the country, educators focused on building authentic relationships with their students using Along this year. By getting to know and understand each student, they were able to increase engagement and use student insights to better inform their lesson plans.

How, exactly, did our educator community connect with their students? Using Along’s library of research-informed reflection questions, of course.

1. What’s something you’re looking forward to? It can be big or small, soon or far in the future.
   The year’s most asked question is part of the Look to the future collection. Created in partnership with Understood and Search Institute, questions in this collection help students to broaden their horizons by reflecting on what’s to come. 
2. What is something you feel like you’re “too old” to do, but still enjoy?
   Our second most popular question from this year is in the Conversation starters, from students collection, which are all written with high school students in partnership with Character Lab. Check out the full collection to consider how to open a thought-provoking dialogue.
3.  If you could be one character from a movie, TV show, or book, who would you pick? Why?
   This question, from the Imagine if… collection, inspires connection by daydreaming together. The content in this collection was created in partnership with Search Institute.
4. What’s something in your life (big or small) that you’re proud of?
   Bonding over Sparks and strengths helps educators learn what their students bring to class. Consider using these questions to get acquainted and have fun together, knowing that they were created with Understood and Search Institute.
5. What do you usually do after school?
   You can show students that you care about their day-to-day life by asking a question like this one, from the A day in the life collection.
